Our History

William E. Buffington Company commenced operation in 1953 in residential construction. In 1964, the Company shifted to commercial and industrial construction and have since that time completed hundreds of projects, comprised of commercial and retail sales facilities, schools, churches, shopping centers and industrial facilities.

To broaden our scope in the commercial and industrial area, we acquired a franchise with Ceco Building Systems. This long-term relationship with Ceco assures our ability to receive steel at competitive prices in today's volatile steel market.

Our Staff

President

The President of Buffington Company is Jerry D. Atchison, who purchased the Construction Company from Bill Buffington in 1996, after serving as Vice President since 1983. Mr. Atchison has been Project Manager and Designer for numerous multi-million dollar projects ranging from 4,000 sf to 700,000 sf and above, including manufacturing facilities such as Ameristar Frence Products, Kwikset Locks, Cargill Steel & Wire; retail facilities including Honda of Tulsa and Jamestown Square; and numerous schools and churches.

Mr. Atchison's Professional accomplishments include Design Awards in Arkansas and Missouri; serving on Ceco Building System's Builder Advisory Council since 1989; and serving on the President's Builder Advisory Board, 1977-2000.

Vice President

Nan Bugg is Vice President and served as Secretary/Treasurer from 1977 to 1996. Primary responsibility include the finances of the Company.

General Superintendent

Buffington Company has a General Superintendents with the primary responsibility of on-site management and scheduling of all construction activities, layout of building and site development items, coordination with owner on furnishings and equipment and maintaining schedule/quality/budget.

Carl R. Stremme has been with Buffington Company since 1992 and has numerous large projects in his background, including the Ameristar Fence Products, Public Service Company of Oklahoma, American Airlines Support Shop, with 272,000 sf, and Dick Lane's and Honda of Tulsa Sports Centers.
